Vintage Candles outlast the Rest!
I am addicted to taper candles these days and can't go an evening without burning them. I am very cautious about modern taper candles being full of toxic junk so I usually buy Soy. Soy candles are high priced so I have turned to Thrift Stores to find my tapers. I only buy them if they are vintage and I have been finding a lot of them. First of all, I am amazed at how long they burn in comparison to modern tapers. I can just tell that they are made better and not full of toxic junk as it is a clean burn. When I blow them out there is not much smoke. My modern taper candles burn up in one evening compared to their vintage counterparts which I can use up to 3 nights! I try to find candles that appear vintage or have a wrapper that is 20 years older - before the influx of everything being made in China. I love all kinds of vintage candles but I must have my tapers! This is not only a cheaper way to get candles but also not toxic like candles being sold in the big box stores today :)

Wow, that is interesting! Another way to make your candles burn longer is to store them in the refrigerator. The cold wax burns more slowly.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip!
ReplyDeletewhat a good idea! i've been wanting to buy some tapers lately - saw some stuck into old wine bottles at a friend's house and thought that was the coolest thing ever. one more thing for my thrift list!
