My Love of Vintage Frye Campus Boots

Frye boots are special in so many ways! They are not only well made and gorgeous, they come from a company with a rich American history. Frye Boot Company has been around since the mid 19th century and soldiers on both sides of the civil war wore them. John Frye was a shoe maker that immigrated from England and ran the company here in the U.S. for 50 years until he died. You can still see the quality in the Frye Boots made today. I love the Frye boots from the 60's and 70's and in particular the campus style like these boots in the picture. When Frye was ready to expand the style of their boots in the 60's they came out with the "Campus Boot". They come in many different styles and heights - they look great with flowery skirts or tight jeans. Vintage Frye Boots are a versatile and a must have for the discriminating fashionista! They are very bohemian yet slightly rugged western which is a beautiful combination. Frye boots are truely golden!

Vintage Salvatore Ferragamo shoes!

I love Salvatore Ferragamo as a designer and lately have been lucky to find a lot of them in good condition. The Ferragamo style is classic, elegant, and made in Italy. Ferragamo worked with many stars of Hollywood in the 1920's and then went back to Italy to work on these gorgeous hand crafted shoes. He is known for having great passion for his shoes and you can clearly see it in the design and craftmanship. I love his story because he went bankrupt once but rebuilt himself and his shoes to go on to hire 700 employees! I have four vintage pair of Ferragamo heels in my store here:

Exquisite Hand Tooled purse from the 1950's

Wow! This handbag is simply amazing. This is strictly a hand bag but it is a large hand bag. Very bohemian and very 1950's. In the 50's and 60's american women visiting mexico would come back with these handbags and purses. They were very expensive even back then. This is a triangle style with the top closing together and the base being wide and big. There are so many compartments in and on this purse. On the outside of each side there are slits where you can slide things into. The inside has 2 main compartments and zippers. The bag is 13 inches long and 10 inches tall. The width of the bag will go to 7 inches. The bag is very thick and detailed leather and weighs 2 lbs. The bottom of the bag has tooled design as well..this bag is in great vintage condition.. The only wear is on the leather buttons where the strap meets the purse. You can see it in the pictures. Beautiful detail!

How I started with Vintage continued.......

After college I became savvy with html. I was still shopping at Goodwill and started doing it with a dear friend for fun. It was something we would look forward to. Having coffee and heading off to find treasures. I could no longer just bring home things of my size...there were some things that could not be left behind. Then (around 2002) I though of combining my computer skills with my eye for vintage fashion. I started with ebay and then had my own domain eventually. After awhile life changed that path for my friend and I and I pursued other things. While in Seattle I became interested in the Apparel Design program at SCCC and took the beginning class for the program. I learned so much about the design of clothing further enhancing my love for vintage. Modern apparel is not constructed with the care and design that vintage was. Now with Etsy on the scene it has brought me back. It is a great place to sell and share vintage treasures. I look forward to sharing my passion with everyone!

How I started with vintage

In highschool I grew tired of shopping at Maurices, Gap, and other mass producers. I lived in a small area so sometimes several girls at school would be wearing the same thing. I had to go to Goodwill for a donation and started looking around. I found unique purses, distressed Levi's, 1960's dresses, and vests that no one else had. I knew I could pull it off - despite my mall riden friends reaction. I became a regular at goodwill and started structuring my wardrobe around it. It was simple....i would have a shirt or skirt no one....i would pair it with a high quality modern piece..it started working. In my senior year I was put in the yearbook sporting some of my outfit creations. I could no longer do malls...only for a few items. I dared to be different and it worked...it was fun through vintage clothing...to be continued.....
